feminism 3.0 is a site that fosters a variety of conversations on the future of feminism and the uses of social/digital media to connect our creativity, scholarship, and activism.

The site features one blog devoted feminist and related socially engaged praxis in both academic and larger community settings and the need for explicitly questioning and crossing the divides between these terrains.

feminism 3.0 also devotes a blog to current research in gender and popular culture/media arts.  We employ an expanded sense of the term, “research,” that extends across critical and creative interventions and in/outside institutional settings since counter or alternative narratives on gender/social justice often require new forms thinking, writing, and being.

There are many inspirations for the site since new tools and models emerge daily for those interested in feminist and progressive activism.  A particular interest is on history, new archival forms, and new modes of documentation.

The video above comes from my tour of the Stanford Humanities Lab island in Second Life and their exhibit on Lynn Hershman Leeson’s work, Life Squared.

The site also features podcasts with artists, scholars, and activists as well as and live blogging on topics or conferences of interest.   We are still  developing the site and welcome input and collaborators!
