I have been working on a documentary project on the South Carolina lowcountry for the last few years, which looks at issues of corrective histories and restorative justice. I was honored to be asked to contribute to a collection of essays and poems on history, truth, and healing in the Charleston area to be published in the book, UkweliL Searching for A Healing Truth, edited by Horace Mungin and Herb Frazier. The collection draws from a diverse collection of artists, activists, historians, community leaders in exploration of the topic. It is an important conversation that has insights throughout our country. For more on the book, please see this excellent essay from the editor, Herb Frazier, https://charlestoncitypaper.com/ukweli-horace-mungin-herb-frazier/
